Shree Salme Primary School - Moving Mountain School Bag's first donation

On May 19th just over three weeks since the earthquake hit Nepal Moving Mountain School Bag donated 38 school bags to a wonderful enthusiastic group of children. Standing in the rubble of their homes when our vehicle finally reached the top of the mountain, they followed us to the remains of their school - an steel framework with the roof still in tact and all the walls lying where they had fallen. A pile of wheat on their stalks occupied the centre of what once was a school room.

There wasn't a single dwelling left standing in Thakani. The principle went through the names on the register, but soon realised that the number of bags was incorrect as some of the children had died in their houses on April 25th.

There are no buildings left standing in the vlllage of Thakani in Sindulpachowk after the April 25th Earthquake.

The principal of the school told me that one of his pupils was killed when this house collapsed - as did every member of his family.
