Shree Bhalchandra - Kavre
/You might think that after almost three years of supporting schools hit by the earthquakes of 2015 that donation day would be a matter of routine for Moving Mountain Nepal. It never is. For each school we travel to there are always surprises. The level of community involvement in Shree Bhalchandra was surprising and the school has grades from primary level up to grade 10, clearly demonstrating the benefits of having a wide range of children's ages attending. Isn't it great that the young ones are surrounded by older students? What a wonderful message the senior students send to those children who might otherwise consider dropping out.
This school had info graphics everywhere. The walls were full of paintings and messages of encouragement to make the most of your life through education. What an inspiration this was.
During donation, and surrounded by strangers in their community, the children receive their bags with a shyness that is endearing. But soon they gather on the steps with smiling faces and their new school bags.
Each community has at least one or two dynamic individuals that drive change and encourage the school to improve. Mr. Thapa below is one of those people with an infectious enthusiasm for the work they have been doing to provide the best education for his community. Having worked away from the village for many years, he returned, determined to serve, and here, certainly one can feel it.
After the donation, children eagerly open their bags to discover what is inside. Their excitement is palpable and for Moving Mountain Nepal, evidence of a generation keen on study and the future that awaits them.
